Lionel Postwar No. 3484 Operating Pennsylvania Railroad Box Car with Original Box - This is a vintage postwar O-gauge model train operating box car manufactured by the Lionel Corporation, New York and Chicago. Identified as model No. 3484, the car features a molded plastic body in Tuscan red, a black metal chassis, die-cast metal trucks, and magnetic couplers. This is an operating car designed for use with a remote-control track section. When activated via the underside vertical plunger, the door slides open and a figure of a man moves inside. Stamped white markings on the car body include PENNSYLVANIA, 3484, CAPY 100000, LD LMT 120800, LT WT 48200, NEW 5-53, BLT BY LIONEL, and CU FT 3836. The car also bears the Pennsylvania Railroad PRR keystone logo and a circular Lionel L logo. The original orange stripe box is included, featuring the Lionel logo, model number 3484, and text identifying it as an operating box car. The car is in very good to excellent vintage condition. The Tuscan red paint is consistent throughout, and the white stamped lettering and logos remain crisp and legible. The die-cast trucks and magnetic couplers show minor wear from previous use. The internal figure is present, though the operating mechanism is untested. The original box is present and shows signs of age and shelf wear, including corner rubbing, edge softening, and creasing. One end flap exhibits more significant wear with a tear and evidence of previous tape.
