O-Gauge Pennsylvania Railroad L1s 2-8-2 Mikado Steam Locomotive and Tender No. 9628 - This is an O-gauge 3-rail model steam locomotive and matching tender representing a 2-8-2 Mikado type engine of the Pennsylvania Railroad, possibly by K-Line or M.T.H. Electric Trains based on visual characteristics. The locomotive features a die-cast metal boiler and chassis with the road number 9628 printed on the cab side and boiler front. A small oval brass-toned plaque on the side of the boiler identifies the piece as an L1s class locomotive. The tender is constructed with a plastic body shell on a metal frame, finished in dark green with gold-toned Pennsylvania Railroad serif lettering and a simulated coal load. Detailed features include separately applied handrails, a brass-toned bell and whistle, and a painted engineer figure in the cab. The unit is designed for 3-rail operation and is equipped with electrical pick-up rollers on both the locomotive and tender underside. The engine and tender are connected by a metal drawbar and a multi-wire electrical tether. Operating knuckle couplers are located on the front pilot and at the rear of the tender. The locomotive and tender are in good overall condition. Visible dust and minor cobwebs are present on all surfaces, indicating long-term storage. The paint finish shows minor surface wear but remains largely intact. All major detail parts appear to be present. The electrical tether is intact. This item is untested and is sold as-is.
