Lionel #726 Berkshire 2-8-4 Steam Locomotive and Lionel Lines Tender - A Lionel Corporation O-gauge electric #726 Berkshire 2-8-4 steam locomotive and matching Lionel Lines tender. The locomotive is constructed with a die-cast metal shell and chassis and features a three-position reverse unit and smoke generator. The matching tender is also constructed with a die-cast metal body and includes six-wheel trucks and an internal air-whistle mechanism. The side of the locomotive cab is marked with the number 726 in a silver-toned font. The sides of the tender are marked LIONEL LINES in white. The bottom metal plate of the locomotive is stamped MADE IN THE U.S.A. and THE LIONEL CORPORATION. This model represents the early post-war production run from 1946 to 1949. Components include all drive rods, handrails, decorative bell, and whistle. The locomotive and tender are in used, vintage condition. There is moderate to heavy paint wear throughout the die-cast shells, most notable on the raised edges, corners, and rivets. The surfaces show accumulated dust and some signs of minor oxidation and pitting on the metal components and wheels. Mechanical and electrical functionality, including the smoke unit and tender whistle, are untested. No original packaging is included.
