A Lionel Model 736 Berkshire Steam Locomotive and 2046W Whistle Tender - Lionel postwar O-gauge model steam locomotive and matching tender. The locomotive is a number 736 Berkshire type 2-8-4 model featuring a die-cast metal body shell and chassis. The cab side is printed with the number 736 in silver. A Madison Hardware retailer sticker is adhered to the interior of the cab. The locomotive includes metal side rods and linkage and is designed for a three-rail O-gauge track system. The matching tender is a 2046W model with a plastic body shell mounted on a metal frame with metal trucks. The sides of the tender are printed with Lionel Lines in silver. The underside of the tender frame is molded with the model number 2046W-50. This tender is equipped with an internal air whistle mechanism. Vintage, used condition. The surface shows significant accumulation of dust and grime throughout. Paint wear and chipping are evident on the locomotive die-cast body, particularly along the edges, pilot, and cab roof. The front pilot truck is detached from the locomotive frame but remains present. Metal components including the side rods, wheels, and pick-up rollers exhibit surface oxidation and signs of prior use. The item is untested for mechanical or electrical functionality.
