A Group of Five Lionel O Gauge Tank Cars including Shell and Sunoco Examples - A group of five O gauge model train tank cars featuring a mix of vintage postwar and modern era rolling stock primarily manufactured by Lionel. The collection includes several distinct models: a silver Shell tank car marked S.E.P.X. 8681 and road number 625 featuring a stamped metal frame and metal trucks; a two-dome silver Sunoco tank car with a yellow diamond logo and Built by Lionel text featuring a stamped metal frame and metal trucks; a brown three-dome Pennsylvania Railroad tank car with road number 41607 and the PRR Keystone logo constructed with a plastic body and frame; a white promotional Ace Hardware tank car featuring Ace Royal Paints and Our Very Best graphics constructed with a plastic body and frame; and a yellow Corn Industrial tank car with CPC International logos and road number CCLX 887 constructed with a plastic body and frame. All cars are equipped with standard O gauge couplers. The older models feature stamped metal and die-cast components while the more recent models are made of molded plastic. No original packaging is present with this lot. The vintage Shell and Sunoco cars exhibit moderate play wear and age. There is significant surface oxidation and rust present on the stamped metal frames, axles, and wheel sets, particularly on the Sunoco model. The paint on the older cars shows minor scuffing and thinning in areas. The three modern era cars (Pennsylvania, Ace Hardware, and Corn Industrial) are in very good condition with only light signs of handling and some accumulated dust. All major physical components including domes, ladders, and handrails appear intact, though some metal handrails on the postwar pieces are slightly bent. The mechanical function of the couplers has not been tested.
