The work is in good condition, professionally relined and set in a modern gilded frame. Minor scratches in the varnish. The composition captures an idyllic scene of animals resting in a summer landscape beneath the canopies of mighty oaks. Zimmermann, known for his illustrations for Brehm’s Life of Animals, demonstrates here a deep understanding of animal anatomy and natural movement.
