PAIR OF HANGING PLATES WITH CHINOISERIE - Netherlands, Delft, 1650–1700, and Germany, Frankfurt am Main, 17th/18th century A deeper nine-lobed faience plate, on a light grey-blue glaze, cobalt-painted decoration with a motif of a seated figure in a Chinese garden (in the well), repeated in some fields of the wide rim, where it alternates with panels of flowering branches. Diameter 34.5 cm. A shallow plate with a slightly raised rim, white-glazed, blue-painted chinoiserie in the well (standing figure with a parasol) and on the rim. Diameter 22.5 cm. Unmarked. Condition B. Minor abrasions on the rims, hairline cracks. Provenance: from the collection of PhDr. Miroslav Boček (1915–2005).
