Also known as: Hirszfang, Yitzhok Hirshfang, Ignacy Hirschfang, Ignacy Hirszfinkel. Ignacy Hirszfang was Polish painter and illustrator of Jewish origin, victim of the Holocaust. From 1912 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in the studios of Jacek Malczewski, Wojciech Weiss and Teodor Axentowicz, in 1914 he interrupted his studies and fought in World War I, in 1918 he returned to the university, to graduate a year later. He made his debut in 1913 during the exhibition of the Krakow Society of Friends of Fine Arts, after completing his studies he went on an artistic journey to the south of France. After his return, he settled in Lodz, where he devoted himself to painting, exhibiting his works in Lodz together with Wincenty Brauner and at the International Exhibition of Young Art in 1923. In 1930, he exhibited his works together with Samuel Finkelstein at the Jewish Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts, then he presented them at the Parisian Galerie Art et Artistes Polonais. In 1934, together with Samuel Finkelstein, he exhibited his works at the salon of the Jewish Artistic Association - Zjednoczenie in Krakow, a year later he had an individual exhibition in Lodz. In 1939, he exhibited his paintings at YIVO and at the Jubilee Salon, and was a member of the Association of Artists and Lovers of Fine Arts - Start. During World War II he found himself in the Lodz ghetto and died in the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp.
