Wolf Kaplanski (pseudonym Wital) painter, graphic artist, art critic, poet. Graduated from the School of Artistic Industry in Vilnius, later studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts. He was expelled from the university for his form of protest against Anti-Semitic speeches at the university. In 1937 he settled in Lodz. He had a solo exhibition in Vilnius in 1938. He painted landscapes, synagogue interiors, still life and portraits. His work often features social themes and Jewish motifs. Few of his works have survived. in 1943 he was murdered by the Nazis in Treblinka extermination camp.
