Sarah Shininger - Hoopoe Bird. - Sarah Shininger - Hoopoe Bird. When she moved to Israel, sheI became fascinated by the hoopoe birds. Many of their characteristics and qualities reminded her of the Israelis she has come to know and love. As an artist, one of her favorite things is to create and the source of inspiration are animals and plants that share a symbiotic relationship. For this  piece, she chose to combine the national symbols of Israel wild anemone flowers  and hoopoe birds, both bold and beautiful; small, yet mighty like Israel, Am  Israel, and the soldiers who protect her. All proceeds will be donated to the purchase of protective equipment for the IDF reserve soldiers.
