Bidspirit auction | Sophie Kay - Kintsugi.

Sophie Kay - Kintsugi. - Sophie Kay - Kintsugi. Sophie Kay, British born, Israeli based artist finds inspiration in the nature and flora  of the Israeli landscape. The inspiration for the design of this helmet came from the Japanese practice  “Kintsugi”; an art-form that takes broken pottery and repairs it by adhering the pieces  together with a golden lacquer. The idea mirrors us as a country. That while seemingly broken, we are slowly healing  and mending ourselves to restore our unity. Additionally, the juxtaposition between a  fragile design (similar to those used in delicate porcelain) on an army helmet - an  item usually associated with battle, hardship, force - acts as a reminder that although  we are going through a war right now, we will soon flourish and restore ourselves, all  the stronger. All proceeds will be donated to the purchase of protective equipment for the IDF reserve soldiers.
