Yael Herziger-Hershko - Has the flood ended? - Yael Herziger-Hershko - Has the flood ended? An Israeli artist from Hadera, living with my two children, Daniel and Noam, and our dog, Hikey. I have been painting since childhood, using art as my way to breathe—especially in life's hardest moments. This helmet was inspired by the October 7th war in Israel, and the flood of emotions it brought—fear, pain, and helplessness. The painting draws from the biblical story of Noah’s Ark, where God sent a raven and later a dove to see if the waters had receded. In my work, the ark waits in the distance, while the raven and dove sit together on an olive branch, uncertain—has the flood truly ended? The inscription on the helmet reads: ”Have the waters subsided from the face of man, O Lord?” All proceeds will be donated to the purchase of protective equipment for the IDF reserve soldiers.
