Yael Herziger-Hershko - 3D Chessboard. - Yael Herziger-Hershko - 3D Chessboard. An Israeli artist from Hadera, living with my two children, Daniel and Noam, and  our dog, Hikey. I have been painting since childhood, using art as my way to  breathe - especially in life's hardest moments. There is no text—the board says enough. Chess is a game of war between soldiers, and I wanted each viewer to feel  what this game means when it’s painted on a real combat helmet, one that  was once in the field.  The simple pawns stand at the front. They fall first, protecting the  powerful—the king and queen who remain safely behind. One pawn, chewed by my dog, is painted yellow.  It represents the kidnapped.  It does not stand on a black or white square, but somewhere in  between - without a place in the world.  We must not forget them. *Are we just a game?* All proceeds will be donated to the purchase of protective equipment for the IDF reserve soldiers.
