Wooden base (10x10cm). 4.5kg. Baruch (Boris) Saktsier is a Moldovan and Israeli sculptor. He was born in the family of the Jewish poet Motl Saktsier and the actress of the Chisinau State Jewish Theater (before its closure) Susanna Abramovna Saktsier (nee Gakhanskaya). Father was imprisoned in 1949-1954, mother worked in a shoe factory. He graduated from the Chisinau Art College and the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I. E. Repin (1969). In 1978, he won the competition to create a monument to Janusz Korczak on Janusz Korczak Square in the Yad Vashem museum complex in Jerusalem. A bronze bust of his father, the poet Motl Sakcier, made by the sculptor is in the collection of the Chisinau Museum of Jewish History and Culture.
