Cruciform brass guard of the ”mameluco” type, finely chiselled, with the insignia of a general, command baton and crossed sabre, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Grip composed of two bone plates, fixed by four rivets and a brass ring, the latter used to pass the sword knot. Flat and slightly curved blade, single-edged, with vegetal engravings, trophies of arms, the monogram ”WM” and the date 1878. On the ricasso, the maker’s inscription ”Neal / Edgeware Road / London”. Brass scabbard with two suspension rings and an iron drag. Slight oxidation. Signs of use and small restoration. Approx. total length: 95 cm; approx. blade length: 80.5 cm. Poignée composée de deux plaquettes en os, fixées par quatre rivets et un anneau en laiton, ce dernier servant à passer le dragonne. Lame plate et légèrement courbe, à un seul tranchant, ornée de gravures végétales, de trophées d’armes, du monogramme « WM » et de la date 1878. Sur le talon, inscription du fabricant « Neal / Edgeware Road / London ». Fourreau en laiton avec deux anneaux de suspension et bouterolle en fer. Légère oxydation. Traces d’usage et petite restauration. Longueur totale approximative : 95 cm ; longueur approximative de la lame : 80,5 cm.
