Full brown morocco binding with a large gilt coat of arms bearing the arms of the Kingdom of Italy. Endpapers in cream moiré silk. Edges gilt. Spine with 7 compartments. Photographic reportage on one of the most influential ladies in the world of her time. This album was made in Florence by the photographers of the firm CATTANI & de HAGEN successor MONTABONE. The front cover board is engraved and signed with the name Montabone. By acquiring or succeeding established studios such as that of Cattani, Luigi Montabone became one of the official photographers of the Italian royal house and became world-famous for documenting the Italian Diplomatic Mission to Persia in 1862. Montabone was one of the great portraitists in the world of photography. Queen Margherita is shown half-length, with her jewellery visible: pearl necklaces, earrings, furs, fans, rings, bracelets, clasps, pendants, books, dresses, feathered hats, among other accessories of great quality and style. This album serves as evidence of many of the jewels of the House of Savoy that this Queen inherited and acquired throughout her life. Unique album with sepia portraits of the highest quality. Le plat supérieur est gravé et signé du nom de Montabone. En acquérant ou en succédant à des ateliers établis comme celui de Cattani, Luigi Montabone devint l’un des photographes officiels de la maison royale italienne et acquit une renommée mondiale pour avoir documenté la Mission Diplomatique Italienne en Perse en 1862. Montabone fut l’un des grands portraitistes du monde de la photographie. La reine Marguerite est représentée en buste, l’on voit ses bijoux, colliers de perles, boucles d’oreilles, fourrures, éventails, bagues, bracelets, fermoirs, pendentifs, livres, robes, chapeaux à plumes, entre autres accessoires de grande qualité et de grand style.
