[REINO DAS DUAS SICÍLIAS] PASTA DE GRANDE APARATO PARA CAÇA: STATI MENSUALI E BILANCO GENERALE DELLA CACCIA UCCISA NELL ANNO 1786. - ENG [REINO DAS DUAS SICÍLIAS] LARGE HUNTING RECORD FOLDER: STATI MENSUALI E BILANCO GENERALE DELLA CACCIA UCCISA NELL ANNO 1786. DOUBLE COLOUR SUPER‑LIVROS. Dim: 36 x 50 cm. Unique, very luxurious binding in red morocco, gilt on two leathers: green and red. It has a flap to close the folder. The interior is in very fine green silk. Two huge coats of arms (17 cm) with the Greater Arms of the Kingdom were stamped on both covers. The folder has a slight gusset on both side edges so that it can hold some sheets of paper. Arms in an ellipse on green leather, gilt. Tools used are highly stylised and precise. Baroque period. The coat of arms is inside a shell from which hang 4 collars of honorary Orders. Six coats of arms are represented within the heraldic shield of the Bourbons Two Sicilies. Around all the covers runs a roll tool of beautiful aesthetic effect, ending in delicate flowers. The spine is smooth and in good condition. Four florets are used at the inner corners of the case. This copy belonged to the Kings of the Two Sicilies for venatorial activities. Ferdinando III da Sicília (1751–1825), also known as Fernando IV de Nápoles and later Fernando I das Duas Sicílias, was a monarch of the House of Bourbon who ruled Sicily from 1759 to 1816. Son of Carlos III da Espanha, he acceded to the throne in childhood and became the first king of the Reino das Duas Sicílias. The copy displayed here was his and was very likely ordered to be bound in Palermo. This folder represents an example of royal authority. It must have been used in the Casina Reale di Caccia di Ficuzza, in Sicily. We suggest a name as the possible author of this world‑renowned binding: Pietro de Lucia. GOOD CONDITION.
