A beautiful publication, a work compiled as indicated on the title page, since the Piedmontese historian Luigi Cibrario mainly used works by earlier authors. It begins with the “founders of religious life”, that is, from the first monasticism up to the medieval mendicant Religious Orders: Franciscans, Dominicans, and others. In vol. 2, pp. 35 and 36 have some small holes at the top. Otherwise a very good copy. Spine of vol. 1 detached. Avec 95 gravures, exécutées sur acier et finement coloriées à l’aquarelle, avec des rehauts en gomme-laque. Reliure en cartonnage recouvert de papier d’époque, titres et décors imprimés au dos. Une belle publication, ouvrage compilé comme l’indique la page de titre, puisque l’historien piémontais Luigi Cibrario a principalement utilisé les œuvres d’auteurs antérieurs. Il commence par les « instituteurs de la vie religieuse », c’est-à-dire depuis le premier monachisme jusqu’aux Ordres religieux mendiants du Moyen Âge : Franciscains, Dominicains et autres. Dans le 2e vol., les pages 35 et 36 présentent quelques petits trous en haut. Pour le reste, exemplaire très bon. Dos du 1er vol. détaché.
