A pair of 300 penny bills, A pair of sketches of proposals for a 300 penny bill that were not accepted and appearances in the professional literature.
Over the years, the Bank of Israel has submitted various proposals for banknotes of various types. These proposals have not been published and have not generally been made public.
These are the two well-known sketches of 300 pennies (there is an identical copy in the Bank of Israel Museum). The banknotes from the beginning of the establishment of the state, probably 1948-1952 such as the banknote of 50, 100 and 250 pennies. On one side only Hebrew and on the other side Hebrew and Arabic. One sketch in light green and dark brown, on one side an illustration of a mountain range, and on the other side an inscription in Hebrew and Arabic. On this side are the signatures of Levi Eshkol and Avraham Ne'eman, and the number of the note.
As for the signatures - they are on the banknotes issued in 1952, 1953.
Eshkol served at the time as finance minister and trustee served as accountant general.
The second sketch is dark green and brown. On one side is an illustration of a strip of beach and trees, and a ship is sailing in the sea. The sketch carries a serial number. On the other hand, the signature of a. Hopin and A. Brett and writing in Hebrew and Arabic.
Examining the signatures on these sketches it turns out that the signatures of Hopin a. Brett are identical to the signatures on Anglo - Palestine Bank notes from 1948. Hopin served as the bank's manager while a. Beckett served as chairman of the bank's board of directors. The amazing thing is that the sketch bears the name of the State of Israel, while the signatories are the heads of Anglo-Palestine Bank.
