Savage 1899A 303 Savage Rifle - This is a Savage Model 1899A Lever-Action Rifle chambered in .303 Savage, serial number 199376, featuring a 26-inch barrel, blued metal finish, and a wooden stock with a gloss finish. The rifle is fitted with a metal half-crescent butt plate, case-hardened lever, flip-up rear rifle sight, and a Lyman adjustable peep sight. The bore is in good condition, with prominent rifling, no visible pitting, and some muzzle wear. The receiver retains most of its bluing, showing surface scratches, while the barrel exhibits finish wear on the top and sides, along with minor dents and wear near the muzzle. The stock and forearm show multiple scratches and dings from field use, but the stock retains most of its gloss finish, and there are no visible cracks in either piece. A small chip is present near the top of the grip, and another smaller chip is closer to the receiver (see photos for details). The rifle also features a brass cartridge counter, and is in good mechanical condition, with the lever cycling properly and locking up tight. A classic and collectible example of early American lever-action design. C&R eligible; otherwise, FFL/4473 required for transfer.
