Bidspirit auction | Winchester Model 1873 .22S Lever

Winchester Model 1873 .22S Lever Action Rifle - This is a Winchester Model 1873 Lever-Action Rifle chambered in .22 Short, serial number 373004B, which indicates manufacture in 1891, and features an approximately 24-inch barrel. The rifle is fitted with traditional Winchester buckhorn sights, and the bore is in poor condition, showing heavy pitting and very faint rifling. The metal finish is completely worn, displaying a rich, aged patina, and the stock has lost most of its finish, with multiple scratches, while the forend is in better shape, retaining some original finish. The receiver shows pitting and denting on both sides, and the barrel, though free of major pitting, has numerous dents and scratches. The lever has light pitting, and the half-crescent metal butt plate is also pitted. Mechanically, the firearm appears to function properly, with a tight action, working hammer and trigger, although the lever does hang open by about half an inch. This is a fair-condition example of a classic Winchester, representing vintage American craftsmanship and ideal for historical display or collection. This firearm is classified as an antique and does not require an FFL/4473 for transfer.
