US Springfield Model 1873 .45-70 Rifle - This is a U.S. Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Rifle chambered in .45-70 Government, with serial number 24334 (which indicates the rifle was manufactured January-March of 1874), featuring an approximately 32-inch barrel measured to the breech, elevated rifle sights, and a patinaed finish. The rifle has a wooden stock, metal butt plate, and is marked “U.S. Springfield 1873” on the breech. The bore is in fair condition, showing rust and light pitting, and the action and trapdoor mechanism appear to function properly. Overall, this rifle is in fair condition, with multiple scratches, dents, and some chips near the bottom of the butt plate, as well as light pitting and wear on the barrel, trigger guard, and metal surfaces. Breech block has a heavy stamp the appears to say ”Model 1878” which is a common mistake among this model. Despite cosmetic wear consistent with age, it is in good mechanical condition. This firearm is classified as an antique and does not require an FFL/4473 for transfer.
