D. Eddy and Sons Antique Pine Ice Chest Refrigerator - An antique wooden ice chest, historically marketed as a refrigerator, manufactured by D. Eddy and Sons Co. of Boston. The unit is constructed from pine with a reddish brown stained finish. The top lid features a turned wooden knob and opens to reveal a secondary inner lid. The interior contains a large compartment lined with zinc for ice and food storage. The chest is supported by four large turned bun feet fitted with metal casters. A paper label is affixed to the underside of the primary lid which reads: THE EDDY REFRIGERATOR, ESTABLISHED 1847, TRADE MARK REG. U.S. PAT. OFFICE, MANUFACTURED BY, D. EDDY and SONS CO., BOSTON, MASS., U.S.A. The exterior includes a metal escutcheon and an inset metal handle or vent on one side. 29 inches H x 32 inches W x 21 inches D.
