19th Century Spanish Catalan Style Painted Wood and Rush Side Chair - This lot consists of a single side chair in the Spanish Catalan tradition, featuring a bobbin-turned frame and a decorative openwork back. The chair is constructed of wood with turned uprights, stretchers, and a front rail, topped with pointed finials. The backrest contains two carved fretwork splats with a geometric quatrefoil or diamond pattern, suggesting a Chinoiserie influence. The seat is composed of natural woven rush in a traditional four-triangle pattern. The frame is finished in a red paint with cream-colored accents on the raised portions of the turnings. A white rectangular auction inventory sticker with the digits 0772 is attached to the upper back splat. No maker marks, stamps, or signatures are present on the piece.
