Victorian Renaissance Revival Style Carved Hardwood Platform Rocker - This single platform rocker is designed in the Victorian Renaissance Revival style, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The chair is constructed from a dark-stained hardwood frame, possibly mahogany or walnut. It features a high, arched backrest topped with a decoratively carved wooden crest displaying foliate and floral patterns. The out-swept, curved wooden arms terminate in scroll-form handrests. The chair body is mounted to a stationary rectangular platform base via a spring mechanism that allows for a rocking motion. The base is supported by four out-turned legs, with the front pair featuring vertical fluting. The chair is upholstered in a cream-colored floral damask fabric with light rose and tan motifs. A white adhesive sticker with the number 0057 is present on the upper left side of the backrest frame. No manufacturer marks or labels are visible on the exterior frame or base.
