A Pair of Victorian Rococo Revival Style Carved Hardwood Side Chairs - A pair of side chairs in the Victorian Rococo Revival style, resembling designs by manufacturers such as Pelham, Shell and Leckie. The frames are constructed from a dark stained hardwood and feature a balloon back with a pierced and carved crest rail depicting a central rose bloom flanked by leaves. The seats and back panels are upholstered in a seafoam green velvet-like fabric with deep button-tufting and finished with a coordinating braided gimp trim. The chairs are supported by cabriole front legs and square-cut, slightly raked rear legs. No manufacturer marks, stamps, or signatures are visible on the frames or upholstery. A white adhesive tag with the printed characters 0015 is present on the crest of one chair, and a small green rectangular tag is present on the other.
