Large Satsuma Style Enameled Porcelain Egg Form Covered Vessel on Ormolu Base - This mid-to-late 20th-century decorative lidded vessel is designed in an ovoid egg form and is permanently mounted to a cast metal base. The porcelain exterior features a dense millefleurs or thousand flowers enamel decoration set against a black ground in the famille noire style. Two large fan-shaped reserved panels on opposite sides depict traditional courtly scenes with figures in garden settings. The lid is crowned with a hand-painted finial modeled as a cluster of three pomegranates. The vessel is supported by an ornate cast metal ormolu-style stand featuring four scrolled acanthus-leaf feet. The interior of the bowl shows a rough, uneven glaze finish with some staining. No manufacturer marks, reign marks, or signatures are visible on the exterior or the accessible portions of the porcelain. Height: Approximately 14 to 16 inches.
