Henry Alken, A Set of Four Hand-Colored Etchings with Aquatint - This set of four 19th-century prints features traditional English fox hunting scenes. The collection includes two plates from The Quorn Hunt series titled Snob is Beat and The Meet, as well as a pair titled To the Craners of England (The wrong sort) and To the Crack Riders of England (The right sort). The works are executed in a combination of etching and aquatint with hand-coloring. Printed inscriptions attribute the works to draughtsman and etcher Henry Alken, engraver Frederick Christian Lewis, and aquatintist Edward Duncan. The Quorn Hunt plates include a publication date of 1835. Each print is presented in an olive-green mat and a dark wood frame with a gilded inner lip. Frame: 17 x 20 x 1 inches.
