Large Floor-Standing Wood and Metal Schoolroom Abacus - This large floor-standing educational abacus is a classic example of late 19th or early 20th-century schoolroom equipment. The frame is constructed from wood with a warm, medium-brown finish and features a decorative scrolled top on one side. The instrument contains ten vertical metal rods, each holding ten dark-stained beads crafted from wood or a dark composition material. The unit is supported by a sturdy floor-standing base with diagonal cross-bracing and arched wooden supports. A small white rectangular sticker with the black printed numbers 8, 3, 6, 5 is located on the left vertical member of the frame. A handwritten mark in dark ink reading 2, -, b is present on the right vertical member near the bottom cross-brace. No manufacturer names or patent marks are visible.
