Louis XV Style Fruitwood and Cane Back Armchair - A French Provincial style armchair in the Louis XV taste featuring a carved wood frame with a medium-tone finish. The chair is constructed with a high, arched back containing a machine-woven cane panel and a hand-carved floral spray on the crest rail. The curved armrests include matching upholstered pads. The seat consists of a loose, reversible cushion upholstered in a cream-colored floral damask fabric with pastel blossoms. The scalloped front apron is decorated with a coordinating carved floral motif and is supported by four cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. Construction features include mortise and tenon joinery with visible corner blocks on the underside. No maker's marks or signatures are present on the frame. A small white adhesive tag with the printed characters 0116 is located on the front apron.
