Large Scale Bronze Sculpture by Emil Julius Epple - This large-scale cast bronze sculpture is modeled after Le Charmeur de Serpents (The Snake Charmer) C.1920 The work depicts a standing male figure in a naturalistic, academic style, posed in contrapposto on a tiered circular base. The figure is rendered with detailed musculature and wears a simple loincloth and a plume-like ornament in his hair. He is shown holding a long, slender pipe to his lips. At his feet, a realistically modeled snake is coiled on the base. The bronze features a variegated warm brown patina on the figure, while the base exhibits areas of green verdigris oxidation. No signature, foundry mark, or edition number is visible on the piece. A small inventory sticker with the number 0119 is present on the figure's left wrist. 71 inches (height).
