Early 18th Century Style Joined Oak Mule Chest - A joined oak mule chest characterized by unusually tall and narrow proportions. The piece is built using pegged mortise and tenon construction. The case features a lift-top lid opening to a storage well, with a facade consisting of four recessed panels on the left and two stacked drawers on the right. The lid is reinforced on the underside with two wooden cleats. Both primary and secondary woods are oak, with wide, rough-sawn planks used for the back and interior surfaces. Hardware includes a pierced brass escutcheon on the main compartment and four brass batwing style drop pulls on the drawers. A brass-lined keyhole is present on the upper drawer. A modern inventory sticker with the numerals 0148 is located on the lower front left corner. Height: 43 in | Width: 26 in | Depth: 13 in.
