Bidspirit auction | Jacobean Revival English Oak Gate-Leg
Jacobean Revival English Oak Gate-Leg Drop-Leaf Table - This gate-leg drop-leaf table is constructed of solid oak in the Jacobean Revival style, likely dating to the early 20th century. The oval top is composed of a fixed rectangular center section and two D-shaped drop leaves, featuring quarter-sawn grain patterns and visible medullary rays. The base consists of six turned legs in a ball-and-ring motif, with four fixed legs and two hinged gate-legs that swing out to support the leaves. The legs are joined by a low-set box stretcher for structural stability. A small white rectangular sticker with the printed black characters 0149 is present on the edge of one leaf, representing an auction lot number. No manufacturer marks, stamps, or signatures are visible.
