Walter Panofsky - Também Tu Entendes de Música - Walter Panofsky, 1961. Published in 1961 in Porto, by Livraria Fernando Machado. This is the Portuguese translation (by the composer and pedagogue Maria de Lurdes Martins) of one of the most celebrated, esteemed, and influential works introducing, disseminating, and appreciating European classical music, by the prestigious German critic and musicologist Walter Panofsky (1913-1967), under the title ”You Too Understand Music: An Introduction to the Wonderful World of Sounds”. The work presents an accessible, didactic, and captivating language, and is profusely illustrated in the text with dozens of humorous drawings and explanatory sketches, diagrams of instrumental families in the orchestra, excerpts from scores, and classic musical examples (such as explanatory diagrams of acclaimed operas, including Mozart's The Magic Flute).
