Luís de Camões - Os Lusíadas - Luís de Camões, 1827. Published in 1827 by the historic Typographia Rollandiana in Lisbon, this edition of ”Os Lusíadas” follows the typographical composition of the celebrated Paris edition of 1817. The volume is presented in quarto format (approx. 25 × 18 cm), boasting an ornate title page that lends dignity to the work. The copy is bound in an antique leather binding, with a spine decorated with gilt tooling, showing signs of use and wear on the edges, consistent with its age. The most interesting aspect of this lot lies in its documented provenance: it includes the card from the J. G. Mazziotti Salema Garção bookstore and a handwritten note referring to the ”Soares e Mendonça Auction, ” indicating the lot and reference to the edition. It is, therefore, an item of clear bibliographic value, not only because of its 19th-century dating, but also because it preserves the memory of its journey through Portuguese historical collections, maintaining ownership marks (ex-libris) that greatly enhance the piece's value in the bibliophile market.
