Gabinete de História da Cidade - Cerâmica Portuense - Gabinete de História da Cidade, 1973. Published in 1973 by the Porto City Council, through the City History Office, this copy of ”Porto Ceramics (18th and 19th Centuries) — Itinerary” constitutes the official catalog of the important documentary and artistic exhibition held at the historic Casa do Infante in Porto. The volume stands out for its exquisite and robust handcrafted red half-leather binding with corners, boasting a richly ornamented ribbed spine with gilt tooling and fillets, a green leather label with the title engraved in gold, and plates covered in marbled paper in shades of coral and reddish with a fine gold transition fillet. It is in excellent condition, with the text block perfectly clean and firm. This lot is extraordinarily enriched by the fact that it is accompanied by an original newspaper clipping from the period, originating from the prestigious Porto newspaper ”O Primeiro de Janeiro” (specifically from its cultural supplement ”Ricapraque”), containing a detailed illustrated article entitled ”An exhibition of pharmaceutical ceramics” by Carlos da Silva Lopes, which gives this set a significant documentary dimension and increased interest for ceramic collectors and historians of Porto art.
