Vários - Lote Coleção Silva Vieira - Vários, 1916-1934. Published in various years between 1916 and 1934 in Espozende, this remarkable collection comprises three volumes belonging to the prestigious, scarce, and highly sought-after ”Silva Vieira Collection” from Guimarães, constituting a valuable repository of ethnographic, folkloric, and philological studies of Northern Portugal. The set includes the following regionalist reference works: ”Tradições e Usanças Populares” (Volume I), by Alberto V. Braga, printed in 1934 by Livraria Espozendense Editora; ”Folclore de Cadaval” (A handful of notes), by M. Cardoso Martha, printed in 1934 by Tipografia Espozendense; and ”Tradições Populares, Linguagem e Toponymia de Barcellos”, by Prof. J. Gomes Pereira, printed in 1916 by Livraria Espozendense Editora. The three volumes, presented in their original paperback editions, are bound in elegant and modern uniform handcrafted bindings in white linen fabric. The original paperback covers and spines are fully preserved at the end of each volume, with the outer spine decorated with two burgundy leather labels bearing the titles and authors finely engraved in gold. The entire collection is in excellent overall condition, with the fabric very clean and the structures perfectly firm. The third volume (dedicated to the traditions of Barcelos) is extraordinarily enhanced by the inclusion of a beautiful heraldic bookplate belonging to F. Guerreiro Chaves, making this collection a highly rare and extremely interesting item for scholars of national folklore and ethnography.
