Jose Marcellino da Rocha Cabral - Colleccão de Alguns Artigos Escriptos e Publicados no Brasil, pelo Portuguez - Jose Marcellino da Rocha Cabral, 1839. Published in 1839 in Rio de Janeiro and printed at the Typographia da Ass. do Despertador (Rua da Quitanda, No. 55), under the direction of F. de S. Torres Homem, this unusual volume by the bachelor José Marcellino da Rocha Cabral brings together a series of articles written and published in Brazil. The work, with a large octavo format and 48 pages, is followed by documents, preceded and followed by observations refuting the calumnies and conspiracies published against him. The copy is covered by an exquisite brown half-leather binding with marbled corners and planes in shades of brown, green and yellow, with the spine richly decorated with elaborate floral designs, fillets and titles engraved in gold on green labels, denoting a perfect state of preservation. The text block and edges are clean and firm, with excellent technical workmanship, as indicated on the back cover by the prestigious bookbinding workshop ”Fersil - Porto, ” establishing itself as a very interesting and remarkably rare bibliographic piece for collectors of Luso-Brazilian historical themes.
