Almeida Garrett - Obras de J. B. de Almeida-Garrett: Tomo I, 2ª Edição - Almeida Garrett, 1839. Published in 1839 in Lisbon by the Typographia de José Baptista Morando (Rua do Moinho de Vento, n.º 59), this copy corresponds to Volume I of the Works of João Baptista de Almeida Garrett, containing the famous poem Camões. Being the scarce second edition of the work, the volume is presented in an octavo format with 307,[4] pages. The copy is covered by an elegant full leather binding of the period, in perfect condition. The spine, with false raised bands, is richly ornamented with floral rosettes, fillets and gilded decorations in the Romantic style, incorporating red leather labels with the inscriptions engraved in gold and, at the base, the gilded date ”1859”, indicating the year of execution of the binding. The book's interior is exceptionally clean, firm, and well-structured, preserving the rare original paperback cover printed on green paper, with the title framed by exquisite typographical borders. A piece of indisputable bibliographic value, highly representative of Portuguese Romanticism and in exemplary heraldic condition.
