P.Francisco Pomey - Indículo Universal, das Cousas mais Notaveis do Mundo: Feito novamente Luzitano Latino - P.Francisco Pomey, 1716. Published in 1716 in the city of Évora, at the University Printing Office, this extremely rare encyclopedic and pedagogical work is based on the original treatise by the French Jesuit François Pomey. Adapted and expanded for the Portuguese public by the renowned Father António Franco, S.J., the edition is titled ”Made Again in Portuguese and Latin, ” presenting the terms and descriptions in both languages. The copy, bound in its original contemporary full sheepskin binding, shows the natural wear of time with a slight loss in the upper spine flap, but maintains its structural solidity. The interior is in good general condition, showing the patina of centuries, and with the peculiarity that the last pages present some galleries of old lettering located in the margin, without in any way hindering or impairing the reading of the text. Valued for its illustrious provenance, the volume bears on the back cover the armorial ex-libris belonging to the distinguished J. G. Mazziotti Salema Garção Bookstore, having been featured in the catalog of the prestigious auction no. 41 of the Soares & Mendonça auction house in 1980. A sixteenth/seventeenth-century piece of exceptional rarity in the national antiquarian book market.
