The title page is illustrated with spectacular copperplates depicting Moshe and Aharon, the Aron Kodesh with two keruvim, the giving of the Torah at Sinai - all in a beautiful architectural border.  Rabbi Aharon Shmuel Koidanover – Maharshak [1624-1676]: one of Gedolei Hador and one of the first Acharonim. Served as Rav and Rosh Yeshiva of the most important communities of Eastern Europe and Germany, in Mikolov (Nikolsburg) and later in Glogau and Furth. He also served as Rav of Vilna, Brisk, Frankfurt am Main and eventually, Krakow. The Tiferet Shmuel was a disciple of the famed Gaon Rabbi Heschel of Krakow, author of Chanukkas HaTorah. He also served as a Dayan of the famed Beis Din of the Chelkas Mechokek alongside his friend the author of Siftei Cohen - the Shach and Rabbi Ephraim Hacohen the author of Sha'ar Ephraim. During the Gzeiros Tach Vetat (the Khmelnytsky Uprising), the Cossacks murdered his two daughters and he himself was severely wounded. In addition, most of his writings were lost. His only son who survived was Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Koidanover, author of Sefer Kav Hayashar. The Chida praised the Tiferes Shmuel for his true Hagahos and Chidushim. The Yavetz stated that he knew by heart the entire Arba'ah Turim and the Beis Yosef. His works are Tiferet Shmuel; Birkas HaZevach on Seder Kodashiml Birkas Shmuel and Shus Emunas Shmuel.
