Set Responsa of Maharshdam, Salonica 1595-1597. Responsa by Rabbi Shmuel of Medina [Maharshdam]. Important set of responses of one of the great poskim (arbiters) in the period of the early Achronim.  Responsa of Maharshdam was first printed during the author’s lifetime when he was elderly, however, there were many errors in it, and after only several years his son R. Moshe. In his introduction, he writes that the previous edition of this work was full of printing errors and mistakes and was not usable. As such, it was not met with success and was not appreciated. He therefore felt compelled to revise it so that it would be usable and well appreciated. To that end, he imported master craftsmen from Venice who specialized in the art of printing to produce this work. Ever since its publication, this edition has largely been recognized as the first edition, as the previous edition was never widely recognized.  Rabbi Shmuel de Medina - Marharashdam (1506-1589) was among the prominent rabbis of Salonica and a Torah giant in his generation. He studied Torah under Rabbi Yosef Ṭaiṭazaḳ and under Maharlbach. Rabbi Shmuel served as an Av Beit Din and issued many responsa, mainly on Choshen Mishpat. He was acclaimed by his contemporaries, who considered him unique in his generation. All 3 sections in 2 volumes. V olume 1 : Orach Chaim and Yoreh De’ah: 16, 21, 168. Even HaEzer: 204. Missing title page and 15 pages index of Even HaEzer, the index is replace by old writing [10 sides].
