Sefer Kovetz Al Yad Hachazaka, Wien 1835, Copy belonging to the Great Gaon Rabbi Shamshon Rafael Hirsch zt”l. This copy was the personal property of the Gaon Rabbi Shamshon Rafael Hirsch zt”l. On the the title page is Rabbi Shimshon Raphael Hirsch's foreign-language stamp: ”SRH” and his son R' Yehudah's (Julius's) stamp on the title page, also in a foreign language. Rabbi Shamshon Refoel Hirsch (1808 –1888), was a disciple of Chacham Isaac Bernays and R. Yaakov Ettlinger (Aruch L’Ner). Known as an outstanding Talmid Chochom, he served as Rav in various communities in Germany most notably Frankfurt. He battled mightily and incessantly against the Reform Movement and under his devoted leadership the Orthodox Jewish community in Germany blossomed. Founder of the “Torah im Derech Eretz” philosophy, his contribution to Torah-true Judaism is immeasurable. Size: 36.5 cm Condition : Fine condition, cover detached.
