Shultei Giborim, Mantua 1612, First edition. Fundamental sefer regarding the laws of The Beis HaMikdash, Service of The Cohanim and Levi’im as well as the vessels and instruments of The Bais HaMikdash by R. Avraham Ha’Rofei Portaleone. Self-published by the author. R. Avraham Ha’Rofei Portaleone (1542-1612) was born into a learned family, whom for generations practiced medicine. He learned in Yeshiva of Bologna as a student of R. Yaakov of Fano and later under R. Avraham Provincelo. He later studied medicine at The University of Pavia where he qualified as a Doctor. He gained distinction as an expert physician and authored an important work on Medicine. Following a severe illness which he attributed to his decline in Torah study he undertook to author this sefer Shiltei Ha’Giborim. An extremely comprehensive work, it is quoted by later commentators including The Chavas Yair and The Tosfos Yom Tov. Vincenzo Gonzaga Press. Four title pages.
