An ancient and very rare Dutch bronze token, depicting the uprising of the Dutch tribes against the Spanish occupation in the 16th century. 1578. On both sides of the medal are illustrations depicting the Dutch insurrection: the war of David and Goliath, and on the back a lion attacking a boar symbolizing the Netherlands insurrection against Spain. The Eighty Years' War had far-reaching military, political, socio-economic, religious and cultural effects on the Western European region.
