Impressive Boar Spear with Original 18th-Century Tip - Iron, forged; wood; antler; leather. A representative boar spear featuring an original hand-forged spearhead (H. 29 cm) from the 18th century. The broad, leaf-shaped iron blade is mounted on a later, sturdy wooden shaft. Characteristic is the antler crossguard mounted below the socket, designed to keep charging game at a safe distance. The shaft is additionally wrapped with decorative leather. In original find condition; the spearhead shows strong, authentic age patina, while the shaft and fittings are later additions. L. 210 cm. The boar spear was, from the Middle Ages until the 19th century, the principal weapon used in the hunt for dangerous game such as wild boar and bear. Beyond its practical function, it also served as a symbol of noble status. This piece combines an authentic antique blade with a modern, finely crafted shaft, forming an impressive object of both decorative and historical value. Eine repräsentative Saufeder, deren Herzstück eine originale, handgeschmiedete Speerspitze (H. 29 cm) aus dem 18. Jahrhundert ist. Die breite, blattförmige Eisenspitze ist auf einem neueren, robusten Holzschaft montiert. Charakteristisch ist der Knebel aus Geweih, der unterhalb der Tülle angebracht ist. Er diente dazu, das angreifende Wild auf Distanz zu halten. Der Schaft ist zusätzlich mit einer dekorativen Lederwicklung versehen, originaler Fundzustand, die Speerspitze mit starker, authentischer Alterspatina, der Schaft und die Montierung sind neuere Ergänzungen, L. 210 cm. Die Saufeder war vom Mittelalter bis ins 19. Jahrhundert die wichtigste Waffe bei der Jagd auf wehrhaftes Wild wie Wildschweine oder Bären. Sie war nicht nur ein Jagdgerät, sondern auch ein Statussymbol des Adels.
