The massive ring shank has a plain and geometric design, good, age-appropriate, worn condition with authentic patina, inner diameter 22 mm (corresponds to EU ring size 69), W. 10.3 g. This ring is a historical document from the ”Fortress of Lorient.” During World War II, Lorient was one of the most important German U-boat bases in France. After the Allied landings in Normandy in 1944, the city was declared a fortress and was held by German troops until the end of the war in May 1945.
