Prussian cartridge box for officers with cipher ”FRW”, around 1860 - black leather with gold-plated brass appliqués, A cartridge box for an officer in the Prussian line regiments. The box is made of sturdy black leather with decorative stitching. The lid features the large, fire-gilt cipher ”FRW” (Fridericus Rex Wilhelmus), for one of the Prussian kings, Frederick William, beneath the Prussian royal crown. On the back are leather loops for attaching to a belt or bandolier, very good age-appropriate, worn condition with a beautiful patina, gilding is well preserved, 8 x 12 x 3.5 cm (HxWxD). The cartridge box was part of the parade uniform of Prussian officers, especially mounted troops. It served primarily as a representative uniform and a symbol of loyalty to the Prussian royal house. It is a rare and very well-preserved example of Prussian military history from the period before the German Unification Wars. Ein Kartuschkasten für einen Offizier der preußischen Linienregimenter. Der Kasten ist aus stabilem, schwarzem Leder mit Ziernaht gefertigt. Auf dem Deckel thront die große, feuervergoldete Chiffre „FRW“ (Fridericus Rex Wilhelmus) für einen der preußischen Könige Friedrich Wilhelm, unter der preußischen Königskrone. Rückseitig befinden sich Lederschlaufen zur Befestigung am Koppel oder am Bandelier, altersgemäß sehr guter, getragener Zustand mit schöner Patina, die Vergoldung ist gut erhalten, 8 x 12 x 3,5 cm (HxBxT). Der Kartuschkasten war Teil der Paradeuniform preußischer Offiziere, insbesondere bei berittenen Truppen. Er diente primär als repräsentatives Uniformstück und Zeichen der Loyalität zum preußischen Königshaus. Es ist ein seltenes und sehr gut erhaltenes Belegstück preußischer Militärgeschichte aus der Zeit vor den deutschen Einigungskriegen.
