French Cuirassier Sword (Pallasch) Model AN XIII, Napoleonic Empire - Forged steel; cast brass; grip with leather and wire wrap. A rare and imposing pallasch of the French heavy cavalry (cuirassiers), Model AN XIII (Modèle de l’An XIII), from the period of the First Napoleonic Empire. The massive brass guard with three branches bears several inspection and acceptance stamps, some still legible. The grip retains its original leather and wire wrapping, showing considerable wear from use. The long, straight blade with double fullers on both sides is characteristic of this powerful cavalry weapon. The sword comes without its scabbard. In unrestored, age-appropriate condition with a strong, authentic patina. Overall length approx. 114 cm, blade length approx. 97.5 cm. The Model AN XIII (Year 13 of the Revolutionary Calendar, 1804/05) was the formidable standard weapon of Napoleon’s cuirassiers — the elite of the French heavy cavalry. These troops played a decisive role in many of the great battles of the Napoleonic Wars, from Austerlitz to Waterloo, where their devastating cavalry charges became legendary. Ein seltener und imposanter Pallasch der schweren französischen Kavallerie (Kürassiere), Modell MAN XIII, aus der Zeit des Ersten Napoleonischen Kaiserreichs. Das massive Messing-Bügelgefäß mit drei Spangen ist mit mehreren, teils noch lesbaren Abnahmestempeln versehen. Der Griff hat eine originale, aber stark abgenutzte Leder- und Drahtwicklung. Die lange, gerade Keilklinge mit beidseitiger Hohlkehlung ist typisch für diese schwere Reiterwaffe. Die Waffe kommt ohne Scheide, altersgemäßer Originalzustand mit starker, authentischer Patina, L. ca. 114 cm, Klingenlänge ca. 97,5 cm. Der Pallasch MAN XIII (Modell des Jahres 13 des Revolutionskalenders, 1804/05) war die furchteinflößende Standardwaffe der napoleonischen Kürassiere, der Elite der schweren Kavallerie.
