Officer's Sword Knot (Portepee) for Edged Weapon, Brunswick, Imperial Era - Metallic thread, textile. Sword knot for sabre or sword, with acorn-shaped tassel of gold bullion wire (Bouillondraht) and braided slider. Flat woven strap with three blue longitudinal stripes, tassel with black velvet finish. Good, age-appropriate worn condition, metallic thread patinated. Overall length 48 cm, tassel D. 3 cm. The acorn-shaped tassel of bullion wire and the quality of execution identify this as an officer's sword knot. The attribution to Brunswick is based on the characteristic blue longitudinal stripes of the Duchy. After the Austro-Prussian War of 1866, Brunswick troops were incorporated into the Prussian Army as the 92nd Infantry Regiment and the 17th Hussar Regiment, though they retained their own traditional insignia. Flacher Bandriemen mit drei blauen Längsstreifen, Quaste mit schwarzem Samtabschluss. Guter, altersgemäß getragener Zustand, Metallfaden patiniert. Gesamtlänge 48 cm, Quaste D. 3 cm. Die eichelförmige Quaste aus Bouillondraht und die Qualität der Verarbeitung kennzeichnen dieses Portepee als Offiziersportepee. Die Zuordnung nach Braunschweig ergibt sich aus den charakteristischen blauen Längsstreifen des Herzogtums. Braunschweigische Truppen wurden nach dem Preußisch-Österreichischen Krieg 1866 als Braunschweigisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 92 und Braunschweigisches Husaren-Regiment Nr. 17 in die preußische Armee eingegliedert, behielten jedoch eigene Traditionsabzeichen bei.
